About

Taiwan D. Richardson (Tai) serves as Supervisor of the Bridgeport Juvenile Probation Office within the State of

Connecticut Judicial Branch, making history as the first Black male to hold this role. He contributes to system

improvement and professional development as a member of the Juvenile Probation Training Advisory

Committee and the Juvenile Probation Policy Committee. As an adjunct instructor for Foundations of

Cultural Responsiveness and The Color of Justice, Tai facilitates cultural competence and equity training for

Judicial Branch staff.

For over two decades, Tai has committed himself to mentoring youth and adults both through his career and

in the community. He currently chairs the Board of Directors for Leadership, Education, and Athletics in

Partnership (LEAP), the same youth development organization where he began his journey in mentoring. He

is a founding board member of B-Arts, a nonprofit that connects marginalized youth to the visual and

performing arts, and a founding member of the Strengthening Police and Community Partnerships (SPCP)

council. Additionally, Tai serves on the Fair Haven Community Health Clinic Foundation Board. His public

service also includes time as a Police Commissioner, Democratic Town Committee member, and a member

of the Mayor’s Transition team for the Town of Hamden.

Tai has served faithfully for over 23 years within Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. He currently leads

as President Emeritus of the Delta Iota Sigma Chapter serving the Greater New Haven and Fairfield County

areas, and Vice Area Director for the New England Region, covering Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode

Island. Over the years, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Chapter First and Second Vice

President and area Deputy Director for Connecticut. He has been widely recognized for his deep

commitment to mentorship and the Fraternity’s guiding principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.

Tai is the founder and CEO of Richardson Training and Consulting, LLC, where he offers leadership

development, motivational speaking, and community-based training and workshops. He is a devoted

husband to Melissa Richardson and the proud father of four children: a son, Durenzo, and daughters, Tyler,

Zora, and Winnie.

Tai is a servant leader driven by purpose, and he lives by the mantra: “Yesterday is full of moments that can

never be recaptured. Tomorrow is full of potential but is not promised to us. Today is the perfect opportunity

to choose faith over fear and live out your purpose.”
