Restorative Justice as Community Peacebuilding: A Restorative Approach to Hate-related Harm hosted by Restorative Arlington

Community and restorative justice continues to grow and expand across the U.S. and world. With that growth comes increased opportunities for trainings, conferences, and events to deepen one’s relationship with these practices. In our commitment to continual learning, practice, and facilitating connections, we offer this calendar as a go to place to share and find community and restorative justice events.

Please note: This calendar is intended to serve as a resource, and entries do not constitute an endorsement by NACRJ. We encourage individuals to independently evaluate the suitability of each event for their specific needs and preferences.

Description

Presented by Carter School’s Transitioning Justice Lab

Restorative Justice as Community Peacebuilding: A Restorative Approach to Hate-related Harm

With hate-related instances of interpersonal harm increasing in the US, this panel explores the use of Restorative Justice (RJ) processes as a response to violence motivated by racism, LGBTQI discrimination, political opposition, and other forms of hate. Facilitators and stakeholders will draw on their experiences to address these and related questions: What are the key learnings from using RJ to respond to Hate-related Harm? How, if at all, do RJ conferences involving Hate-related Harm differ from other RJ conferences? How might the use of RJ for interpersonal Hate-related Harm connect to broader efforts toward security and community peacebuilding? Includes audience Q&A.
